  • Description

Namibia is a land of breathtaking sunsets, a place where you will find African wildlife roaming the plains of a nation with a proud and fascinating cultural heritage, preserved in the form of thriving indigenous communities imbued with the customs and traditions of their ancestors. Visit Namibia for an adventure into some of Africa's most dramatic terrains and enjoy an unforgettable project experience that will stay with you forever!

Come to Namibia and work with a dedicated team at the cutting edge of their field with the aim of restoring the land back to its original state to once again witness the magnificent cheetah stalking and hunting its prey in its natural environment. Africa's fragile ecosystems and wildlife are intrinsically linked, coexisting successfully since time began. Unfortunately due to man's influence this delicate balance is rapidly changing and the need to reverse this damage and protect the environment has become paramount.

    * What Will I Be Doing?

This project is a wonderful opportunity to be involved hands on in a wide range of critical conservation projects. Your morning duties include a range of essential reserve maintenance tasks such as dismantling old cattle fence lines and windmills, bush clearing, repairing waterholes, erecting and repairing fences, bone collecting and grass cutting within cheetah enclosures and other general maintenance work. Although challenging at times, your role in restoring the local ecology back to its natural state is bound to be highly rewarding and satisfying.

Your afternoon will be spent on a game drive within the 55,000 acre reserve, during which time you could be involved in a number of exciting activities as you explore the inhabitants of the reserve. These activities include leopard tracking and monitoring, cheetah and hyena tracking and monitoring on foot, a visit to the cheetah rehabilitation reserve, Bushman walks, a behind the scenes big cat feeding run, or even the unique opportunity to witness the rescue and release of leopards and cheetahs from Namibian farmers (as applicable). This will be your chance to observe first hand the beneficiaries of the work you and your project colleagues are undertaking. Whatever the focus of the project at the time of your visit you can be sure that no two days will be the same and your evenings will be spent around the campfire reliving the sights you have seen.
