Mexico: Puerto Escondido
Visit Mexico- a Central American heartland that epitomises the best of Latin fiesta spirit, combined with the endless fascination of the legacy of Mayan civilization. In Mexico you will discover stunningly elegant colonial towns surrounded by rainforest cloaked mountains, heavenly beaches where Mayan ruins tumble down to the pristine shores, and markets humming with a hundred street vendors selling everything from pungent leather handbags to magic spells from shamans!
Spend time in one of Mexico's most appealing coastal destinations, where you will find a world famous surfer beach fringing the unimaginably blue Caribbean Sea, a buzzing and multicoloured little town with an exuberant social scene, and some of the friendliest locals you will ever meet. Make a difference to the lives of the nearby community by volunteering on a range of beneficial environmental or teaching projects. Visit Mexico for what really will be the trip of a lifetime!
* What Will I Be Doing?
You will enjoy 2 hours of Spanish classes per day for 5 days a week, ensuring that you grow in confidence with conversational Spanish, enabling you to communicate with the locals. Take advantage of the world famous surfer beach 'Playa Zicatela', known as the Mexican pipeline, found at one end of the town, whilst you enjoy one introductory land surf and one water surf lesson a week (board rental not included). Alternatively, you can opt for 4 weeks of board rental (no lessons included). If surfing's not your thing, there are a host of other activities that you can opt for instead, such as cooking lessons, salsa classes, and half/full day excursions. As well as all this, you will also be participating in a range of voluntary opportunities within the community, which may include working in the local orphanage in a range of capacities and contributing to vital environmental programmes that are proving vital in the protection of the areas precious natural resources.
