  • Description

Experience the "warm heart of Africa" when you visit Malawi, a country of benevolent, friendly people, vast expanses of sun drenched wildlife reserves and Rift Valley lakes and plains, including the eponymous Lake Malawi, with its abundance of tiny tropical fish and silky sanded beaches stretching as far as the eye can see. Integrate yourself into the community that you work with and inspire the minds of the children, whilst acquiring a wealth of teaching experience and new skills. Communities lack resources for schools and teachers and without outside help, standards of education will remain critically low; with your commitment, children will receive the learning experience they crave and deserve. Visit Malawi for a rewarding and challenging adventure and return with memories that will last a lifetime.

    * What Will I Be Doing?

Your work schedule will engage you fully with your pupils and will awaken your creativity and initiative. You will benefit in terms of your personal experience by working with these fantastic children and teenagers. Professionally you will be encouraged to formulate ideas and develop your teaching skills and techniques. Volunteers could teach at primary or secondary schools but if you want to teach pre-primary children there is more limited availability. You will be directly involved with marking pupils' work, preparing homework and assembling innovative and effective lesson plans. As well as this you may also have the opportunity to help with a range of extracurricular activities which will vary extensively depending on your personal skills and interests, whether it is helping direct a school play, organising a choir, or helping select a sports team. Whatever you are interested in feel free to take the initiative and get the kids involved. Whatever you decide, you are sure to gain huge satisfaction from inspiring these underprivileged children, whilst enhancing your own skills and experience significantly.
