Join us on an unforgettable journey through bewitching East Africa. Experience the region's drum-beat soul and marvel at its vast, breath-taking beauty. This trip of a lifetime combines exciting adventure travel with the chance to live among Maasai communities, to help local people, and to take part in a real wildlife conservation adventure. East Africa is an ancient, colourful, exciting and beautiful place, with so much to offer!
Take a safari and get up close to some of Africa's most iconic big game. Marvel at the sight of Kilimanjaro, Africa's tallest, most majestic mountain (climb it if you think you're fit enough!) or climb to the rim of a neighbouring active volcano. Live among the legendary Maasai people, and become part of their ancient, vibrant culture as you teach in a school or take part in a community project. Help out on a wildlife conservation project then take time out for a well deserved rest and laze on Kenya's paradise coast, swinging in a hammock on a white, sandy beach or swimming in the perfect azure waters of the Indian Ocean.
What makes this journey extra special is that it is lead by a well-travelled guide who is young, friendly and fun, but also sensible and knowledgeable. Your guide will take care of all the stress and organisation on the trip, whether it be recovering lost luggage, arranging bus tickets, booking hostels or extra activities, dealing with emergencies or even knowing the best places to go for a great night out. If you want to experience the beauty and adventure of Africa, travelling hassle-free, along with a young and friendly group of companions, then joining this Frontier Adventure journey is the perfect solution!
What I will be Doing?
* Tanzania
Arusha/Moshi area (teaching and community): The adventure begins in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's most magnificent mountain, near to the towns of Moshi and Aruhsa. We will spend time exploring the region and living among the colourful Maasai tribesmen who farm the area's vast and beautiful plains. You'll have the opportunity to help the region's people by teaching at a local school or getting involved with a community project.
Optional extras: This area of Tanzania has plenty of adventurous activities to offer if you want to experience even more. You might choose to climb the nearby active volcano, or even scale Kilimanjaro itself. Or you could take a safari in one of the nearby National Parks and get up close to some of Africa's fabulous big game and exotic wildlife.
* Kenya
Taveta: After our stay near Moshi in Tanzania, we'll set off northeastwards on an exciting journey. The trip will take ua through beautiful landscapes and tiny rural villages where we'll be greeted by excited, exuberant children. The first day's travel takes us over the border to a spot near Taveta and the stunning Lake Jipe, which is resplendent with wildlife. Here we'll spend our first night in Kenya.
Tsavo West: Next we journey across the Tsavo West National Park. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife because this park is home to elephants, cheetah, rhino, giraffe, and zebra, to name just a few. The area is also filled with an array of spectacular birds, many of which are found nowhere else on earth. We will spend a night just east of the park, near a town called Maktau.
Kasigau: You will be greeted at the Kasigau conservation project by Frontier's own research staff. We'll stay on their camp for a few days, and you'll have the opportunity to get stuck in to the work of a real, operational wildlife conservation project. Your input will help to support the Kasigau project, which is aiming to protect elephants and their habitat and to help improve the lives of local people.
Mombassa: Finally, after the adventure, thrills and breath-taking experiences of our journey, we'll arrive at Kenya's paradise coast, for peaceful days of relaxation on white, sandy beaches by the sparkling blue waters of the Indian Ocean. Finish your days swinging in a hammock gazing out across the ocean or sitting in a beach-front café with your newly found friends.
Optional extras (Kenyan coast): If relaxing isn't your thing, this area of coast has plenty of activities to offer. Go diving and search for whale sharks, visit a temple and learn about the region's culture, or visit a nearby village and immerse yourself in the lives of local people.
* A unique view of a fascinating and beautiful part of the world!
* Immerse yourself in Maasai culture as you assist at a local school or community development project.
* Learn about the world famous African big game and wildlife in this fascinating biodiversity hotspot.
* Enjoy white, sandy beaches by the magical Indian Ocean.
