Kenya is a land of intense beauty, epic landscapes, fascinating tribes and exuberant communities. Magnificent wildlife roam across vast Rift Valley plains, white sand beaches fringe the turquoise Indian Ocean and ancient tribal communities practice traditional customs little changed since the dawn of time. All these combine to provide a destination of unparalleled appeal and fascination.
* What Will I Be Doing?
The work on the project benefits from a varied schedule covering several aspects of the HIV programme. Volunteers are essential to this program and are encouraged to help in a whole variety of ways, getting involved in all aspects of the work that is taking place at the time of their placement. You will be working alongside those suffering from the disease, providing a support system that is a vital lifeline for those affected and their families. As well as this, you may help run support groups and workshops that are of utmost importance in the fight to stem the spread of AIDS through the country, providing an educational service that will help break the pattern of infection. Other elements of the project could include helping HIV sufferers set up income-generating initiatives that will allow them to become more self sufficient, providing food to families who are suffering, conducting house visits to bedridden patients. Each and every aspect of the program is relevant to the fight against this vastly destructive disease.
Volunteers can make a valuable contribution to HIV programs by helping with awareness raising and extending the existing support programs to reach a wider community. Combine a visit to this most bewitching of African destinations with the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the hardships and pressures faced by communities living with the threat of HIV/AIDS. This is a project for volunteers searching for a varied, challenging and intensely rewarding assignment.

Independently
To conserve the world's most endangered wildlife and threatened habitats and to build sustainable livelihoods for marginalized and under resourced communities in the world's poorest countries. To create solutions that are apolitical, forward-thinking, community-driven, and innovative and which take into consideration the long-term needs of low income communities.
