Description

You'll travel in a small group, staying in remote forest camps, as you track Orangutans and other fascinating native species like the Sun Bear, Clouded Leopard, and Slow Loris. The work of the research project is vital to developing well-targeted conservation programmes aimed at protecting threatened habitats from human encroachment. Without your help, the world's last remaining Orangutans could find their forest habitat destroyed before their very eyes.

* What Will I Be Doing?

Maintaining the Orangutan's fragile habitat through conservation efforts such as site clearance and reforestation, you will also be able to monitor these gentle giants at the feeding platforms, where friendly adults will come and help themselves to the meals you have prepared earlier. Data collection on behaviour, sightings, and numbers, along with vegetation surveys, will help you contribute to a long term conservation plan as you move around sites in the area. A couple of days will also be spent helping at the research base compiling and organising data and samples as well as helping make preparations for field assessments. This means you will have the opportunity to get a completely rounded experience of all aspects of this fantastic project.
