A land of sensory overload, cultural extremes, and extraordinary beauty and mystery, India has become one of the most desirable destinations to travel and volunteer. Its sheer size, and dynamic, complex population combine with fascinating wildlife and a mystical and pervasive heritage filled with tales of ancient gods, kings and queens, to make it a place that will transform your perspectives and realign your priorities.
What Will I Be Doing?
* Introduction Week
Your first week is designed to give you an opportunity to explore the history and culture of India, and Goa itself of course, with visits to local sites of special interest, cooking lessons, and possibly your first taste of yoga and meditation, practices that are central to India philosophy and way of life. Following this wonderful opportunity to fully immerse yourself in your new surroundings, your briefings for the turtle conservation work will begin.
* Volunteer Work
Your work programme and schedule will vary depending on the time of your visit and any personal interest or experience, but with a little flexibility and enthusiasm you are sure to have a rewarding and enriching experience. All volunteers are encouraged to leave their own personal mark on the project work, and the range of activities that you could be involved in include:
- Egg collection
- Species identification
- Hatchery observation
- Turtle release
- Visitor education
- Beach clean ups
With such a wide range of activities running on the project you can rest assured that you will have given your time to a worthwhile project and contributed to the preservation of these wonderfully unique marine creatures for the enjoyment of generations to come.
* Experience Goa's luscious landscapes.
* Delve into the bewitching culture of India!
* Make a difference to the future of sea turtle populations.
