If you are embarking on a career in journalism, then this project is the perfect experience for you. With over 5,000 daily publications, 15,000 weekly publications, and 20,000 periodicals, all distributed in over 21 languages to a combined readership of 142 million, Indian is one of the largest markets for print media in the world. Based in Mysore, you will also have the opportunity to explore a beautiful city with a rich historical and cultural background and this placement will ensure you get the most out of your time in India with a wide range of experiences, and you will return with a multitude of memories that will remain with you forever.
What Will I Be Doing?
This placement is ideally suited to journalism students with a good command of both written and spoken English, and any related experience will of course be advantageous. As an intern you will have the opportunity to gain an insight into the complexities of Indian society, possibly including politics, economy, religion, sports, the film industry and social and environmental issues.
Your internship will cover the various stages of newspaper and magazine production. Working under experienced staff you may be able to help with a range of activities, such as research, article writing, proof reading, editing, interviewing and photography, in line with your relevant expertise and experience.
