  • Description

There is so much more to this dazzling part of the Caribbean than the tempting waters edged with iridescent sandy shores bordering it. Enjoy fragrant sun drenched days and balmy exotic nights dancing to a soundtrack of Spanish-influenced merengue, one of the most alluring genres of music found in the world. Immerse yourself in the community; watch a game of dominoes being played on aluminium tables in the shade of a bar painted sky blue, smell the pungent aroma of locally made cigars and enjoy the honey sweet coffee that the Dominican Republic is famous for. As well as falling in love with this tropical idyll, bring hope and happiness to children that suffer desperately within a society where the majority of people barely survive from day to day. Work with disabled orphans, abandoned street children and help out at feeding centres for homeless people and women and babies living with AIDS. Join our project today for an unforgettable gap year or year out experience!

    * What Will I Be Doing?

In your first few days you will receive an orientation introduction to the area and the volunteer work by your local coordinator. Whatever role you take on you will be giving disadvantaged children a better start in life. The children really benefit greatly from this rich opportunity for cultural exchange and your involvement will make a real and lasting difference to their lives. You will be an integral part of the project as it strives to offer skills development and environmental education to the people who need it the most.
