Travel to the tropical paradise that is Costa Rica and take part in a teaching project that will involve a cultural and language exchange and integration with the local community that will leave you forever in love with the people the landscapes, beaches, rainforests, volcanoes, and wildlife that this magical destination has to offer. Teaching English to children will give you an insight into their culture, and extracurricular trips around the villages and towns will immerse you in a world of adventure sports, tremendous natural beauty, great food, lively music, and laid-back people.
WHAT DOES THE PROJECT DO?
This project takes place in the vibrant capital city of San Jose. You will be attached to a language school and will have access to its facilities and social events.
You will help teach conversational English as well as playing games and doing arts and crafts with these underprivileged children and you'll quickly improve your Spanish as you make friends with your friendly hosts.
WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
You will help out with the running of the school which may include marking pupil's work, producing inspiring lessons, assisting teaching staff and helping with the general administration of the school. As well as this you will have the opportunity to help with lots of extracurricular activities which will vary extensively depending on your personal skills and interests - whether it be helping set up an after schools sports club, organizing a choir, or helping with a school play; however be aware you will be expected to use your initiative if you want to run these kinds of activities as the staff at the school are already very busy! Whatever you decide, you are sure to gain huge satisfaction from inspiring these children, whilst enhancing your own skills and experience significantly.
