* What Will I Be Doing?
First day at School:
On your first day of class you will need to be at the school between 7:30am and 8:00am for an oral evaluation to determine your Spanish level (placement test). Your family will bring you to the school. You will be provided with a student card with telephone number and exact address of your home stay (bring two passport photos with you, one for the ID and the other for your file). In the afternoon there will be time for a salsa class and the chance to explore the facilities at the language school. Then, you will have an orientation session (at 16:00), providing information about the course as well as about San Jose and Costa Rica in general. This is a great opportunity to ask any questions that you may have. At the end of the meeting, your host family will pick you up to show you the way back home.
Once the course has begun your classes will run four days a week (Monday - Thursday), and a typical daily itinerary could be as follows:
09:00-12:00 Morning classes
12:00-13:00 Lunch break
13:00-15:00 Afternoon classes
After your Spanish classes you will have the chance to participate in afternoon cultural activities:
- Latin dance classes (every day from 15:00-16:00 and 16:00-17:00)
- Cooking classes (Wednesdays from 16:00-17:00)
- Conversation classes (Tuesdays and Thursdays from 16:00-17:00)
Please note: Itineraries and activities are subject to change, and volunteers are therefore asked to be flexible, open-minded and understanding.
