  • Description

Soak up the mystical beauty of Yantai, China's remote north-eastern outpost, its ancient civilisation alive with magnificent temples set in rolling hills. You'll teach English to friendly children, living alongside them and learning the local language as you go, making lifelong friends. In your free time you can explore some of the region's most special treasures such as the Terracotta Army, The Forbidden City, or walk along the Great Wall itself.

    * What Will I Be Doing?

Covering over 16 schools from kindergarten to college, the Frontier-China teaching project offers immense help to the impoverished children who wish to learn English. Following the local school timetables, you will be at the school five days a week, teaching between two and four hours a day. The evenings and weekends are yours to spend as you like, and Yantai offers a variety of activities for all tastes.

    * What Does the Project Do?

China is the fastest growing economy in the world and English teachers are very much in demand. As China's economy grows and changes from centrally-planned to market oriented, its people are eager to learn the skills necessary to be successful in a country of ever-expanding opportunities. Since the Olympic Games in 2008, there has been even greater interest in learning foreign languages.

The children are eager to learn and are a pleasure to teach. You will help improve their English skills and at the same time teach them lots about British culture, music and sports! You'll quickly make friends for life and you'll have ample opportunities to learn Chinese as you attend local festivals and explore this fascinating country with your local hosts. The demand for English teachers from English-speaking nations is extremely high.
