Travel to China, the land of the dragon, and immerse yourself in its fascinating culture by learning the language and art of its people. Should you wish to broaden your horizons a little further, try a martial arts course during your stay or explore the region's cultural and spiritual sites. Using your newly-learned skills you'll soon make new friends both on your placement and whilst visiting some of China's most famous heritage sites such as The Great Wall and the Forbidden City.

* What Will I Be Doing?

Studying at a well-known university, you will undertake an intensive Mandarin study course, studying about 4 hours a day, learning not only the language but also the history and culture of your host country. Your module will help you develop your written, verbal and reading skills, and working alongside native Chinese teachers and student teachers will ensure that you pick up authentic pronunciation and comprehension skills. Aside from your language course, you can choose an elective such as Chinese calligraphy or Taiji, a martial art focused on both physical and mental harmony and balance. Project lengths vary from 4-8 weeks during the summer months to a whole semester of about 5 months (starts twice a year). If that's not enough, you can study for a BA in Chinese language and literature, a 4-year long course. You will be so well looked after by the local staff, people, and your new friends that the only problem you're likely to face is deciding where you want to explore next!
