For a true cultural adventure travel Far East to the seductive culture of Beijing, where you will find a world of exquisitely beautiful operas with lavish decoration, carefully observed manners and customs, perfectly preserved pagodas perched over convoluted town vistas and painstakingly prepared dishes of tantalising spiced delicacies. Those who visit this rapidly growing economy will delve into a fascinating world of big business tinged with the strange mystique of the ancient Chinese heritage. Beijing, or Peking as it used to be known, provides the perfect backdrop for your journalism experience; a dynamic and fast paced environment will challenge you and equip you with the skills to access jobs in the media sector.
What Will I Be Doing?
Depending on your previous experience and skills you will be placed either with a Chinese- or English-language newspaper or magazine in Beijing. You may have the opportunity to cover activities ranging from national news gathering to researching and reporting on important environmental, financial, business, political and sporting news. Your tasks will depend on your own skills and interests as well as what is needed at the time. You will be encouraged to bring your own creativity, perspective and skills to the articles you contribute to, whilst also constantly learning from professionals working alongside you.
If you are interested in a particular element of working on the paper do let us know and we will endeavour to ensure you are involved with that area at some point during your internship. Wherever your goals lie, whether purely in journalism or even editing, production or advertising, this assignment has something for you. All this, whilst you discover more about this exotic destination and its people through your work and research on the project.
