The International Organisation of La Francophonie, generally known as Francophonie, is one of the biggest linguistic organisations represented by 80 member states and governments. With a population of more than 890 million, including 220 million francophones (French speakers), we make up over one-third of the UN member states. We organise political actions and activities with the aim to promote sustainable development, peace, and the French language. We have made 33 cooperation agreements with regional and international organisations. We have also formed permanent dialogue with the Arab, Spanish, Portuguese, and English-speaking zones, which encompass all the major linguistic zones across the globe. We have a head office in Paris and permanent representations in New York and Addis Ababa as well as the UN and the European Union.
