    The area of Institutional Planning, Research and Technological Services serves as the institutional research unit of the University and functions as its fact-finding unit that facilitates planning, policy formulation and decision-making coupled with providing broad-based participation by faculty, staff, students and administrative planning and assessment by which the mission, goals and priorities are established, implemented, measured for their intended outcomes and plans for the use of actual results for improvement. The area is also responsible for providing support and leadership for the integration of a diverse computing environment that includes academic computing services, administrative data processing, instructional technology and support for distance learning that also synthesizes timely information and data required for the study, analysis and appraisal of Fort Valley State University's mission/purpose, policies, procedures and programs. Moreover, the area also serves as the arm of the institution designated to monitor, very closely, those activities of the institution inclusive of its employees and student body that would tend to be in conflict with established policies and guidelines as set forth by the State of Georgia and the Federal Government, University System of Georgia Board of Regents and Fort Valley State University.
