This international bank is looking to add a senior Financial Controller to run its Maltese operation based out of Valleta.

The Financial Controller role is a senior commercial position and it is anticipated that the successful applicant will also serve on the Boards of the Maltese client companies. The Financial Controller will be primarily responsible for managing and contributing to the provision of financial management and other regulatory reporting, information and compliance.

The core duties of the Financial Controller job involve managing the Maltese Office from an Operational and Administrative viewpoint. Leading the Bank's relationship with the local regulator, manage regulatory requirements and mitigate related risks. On behalf of a select group of Maltese companies you will undertake the financial management of these entities - including liquidity management, planning, forecasting, budgeting and the local financial reporting process. Coupled with those duties you can expect to be directing the preparation of financial accounting and management accounting for the Maltese entities and their subsidiaries. In this well paid banking job you will also be delivering financial accounting and management accounting systems and processes that meet all reporting and compliance obligations. You can expect to be asked to undertake the developing and maintaining effective internal control procedures and systems in accordance with group policy. As you would expect the Financial Controller also has to ensure local reporting requirements are maintained including capital and liquidity and to act as the interface with local regulatory bodies, auditors, tax advisors etc. Finally you will find yourself performing the role of Prevention of Money Laundering Officer in accordance with local and group requirements.

Due to the senior nature of the role, the successful candidate must have strong financial and commercial experience in the Financial Services sector. You will hold an accountancy qualification and have at least three years post qualification experience. To lead you will need strong leadership and interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain and develop senior external relationships. Lastly you will have strong commercial acumen covering the breadth of the financial and operational requirements.
