Finca Santa Marta is the Extremadura version of a 'cortijo', composed of two country farms surrounded by olive groves, vineyards and orchards, which until only 15 years ago produced top quality olive oil and wine called 'pitarra'.

The two farms, Santa Marta and Santa Teresa (left), are now partially converted into a country inn. Breakfast and dinner are served in the ancient olive oil mill with its 19th century hand-driven olive press.

Finca Santa Marta is a former olive oil mill which was converted into a country inn, situated in the heart of the outstanding natural landscape of Extremadura. 250km west of Madrid, the Finca is equidistant between the region's medieval towns - Guadalupe, Cáceres and the Roman town of Mérida.

For those eager to experience an authentic country atmosphere, the Finca is surrounded by a unique landscape of dehesas and a fascinating community of birds. Immersion in the unspoilt nature inspires tranquility of the mind and enhances your sense of complete relaxation. Many artists have visited the Finca and this website showcases some of their work.

Location

Coming from Madrid: Motorway A-5 (previously the E-90 or N-V) towards the Portuguese border leads you to Trujillo (250 kms or about 2 hours 15 mins driving). When you arrive exactly at the motorway signpost 253 km and you can see Trujillo's city profile on your right, take the road to Zorita and Guadalupe, now named Ex-208 (previously the C-524).

Continue for 14 Kms (about 9 minutes driving) until you reach signpost 89,5 (after the crossroad of Madrodñera on your left and San Clemente at your right). Finca Santa Marta is clearly indicated.

Coming from Portugal: Pass alongside the town of Badajoz, and continuing along the A-5, keep the town of Merida (see the superb Roman ruins and museum), and its famed Roman bridge, on your right. You eventually arrive (80 kms further) at Trujillo. Take the road to Guadalupe - Ex-208 (previously the C-524). See above for further directions to the Finca.
