  • Highlights

The 120-acre main campus of Fairmont State University sits on a hillside in Fairmont, West Virginia, the county seat of Marion County. In fact, we were known for years as "the college on the hill."

Fairmont is noted for being the home of the original pepperoni roll, the inaugural celebration of Father's Day, Olympic champion Mary Lou Retton and Johnnie Johnson, the "father of rock and roll."

You'll find our campus is currently experiencing a renaissance. In addition to our classic historical buildings such as the iconic Hardway Hall, you'll also see brand new academic buildings such as the Engineering Technology Building. Over the past few years, we've also added a new residence hall, student center and parking garage. Our academic programs also continue to increase each year. We're building the future on a strong foundation.
