  • Description

UCA is Latin Americ's first private university. The program offers an opportunity to understand the country and its people as they confront issues of economic competitiveness and infrastructure development. Nicaragua has a stable democratic government and is one of the safest countries in Central America.

  • Highlights

In addition to extensive course offerings in Spanish, UCA is now offering a limited assortment of classes in English taught by UCA faculty and taken with Nicaraguan students.

Each student will be paired with a UCA student as a language partner. Through these intercambios, or exchanges, students not only improve their Spanish, but also gain the opportunity to learn about Nicaragua from their peers.

During the academic term students will also recieve regular language support through ongoing reinforcement designed to build on the intensive course.

Students receive 15 Fairfield University credits. Participants should have a third-year knowledge of Spanish (at least SP 121). A cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher is required, as is junior standing, although sophomores will be considered.
