Since its establishment in 1994 the Faculty of Informatics has been offering a doctoral study programme to anyone interested in gaining the title PhD. Currently accredited is the Informatics doctoral study programme. The studies can take either a full-time or combined form and in Czech or in English language. Students can develop their specialization in almost all fields of informatics under the leadership of one of our 24 supervisors.
Students can participate in the departments' research projects. More than ten laboratories and specialized units are available for working on their doctoral theses. The many results of this cooperation have been published in numerous specialist publications and presented at numerous national as well as international conferences.
Students receive the necessary support for their work not only from the faculty's technical facilities but also through the faculty's cooperation with other (national and international) institutions and more importantly through grant agencies funding their participation at conferences, summer schools or even their study abroad. At the present time there are about 100 doctoral students studying at the faculty.
Graduates of this doctoral field of study Informatics is able to do individual creative, research and organizational work. Graduates are able to solve challenging theoretical, research and development problems in the field of computer science and are able to lead research, development and implementation in the field of modern computer science and technologies. This field of study puts an emphasis especially on the theoretical orientation of basic research.
