In this program you will assist in centers that are located in the city of Huancayo. The orphanages are places of transition for children and adolescents in a state of physical or moral abandonment. They offer to the children food and nutrition, education, guidance, and company, among many other things. Volunteers work with male children and adolescents between 5 and 18 years at social risk who present many problems; many are orphans, others have suffered domestic violence, or have been abandoned by their parents. Working with these children and adolescents will allow you to learn more about the problems that poverty and marginalization have brought to this group that is highly sensitive and vulnerable. But above all, it will allow you to help them, collaborate with their rehabilitation and reassimilation into the society, where they can be made into good Peruvian citizens as adults.
Activities performed as a volunteer:
* Activities to encourage their intellectual, physical, and social development.
* Development of skills, through sports, dance, music, singing, etc
* Care and protection of the children.
* Support in the activities of food and hygiene.
Other activities you can help with include:
* Helping the children with their homework in science, math, or language (English)
* Teaching English, music, painting, or many other things, depending on your creativity and skills or talents.
* Teaching reading and writing
* Helping in developmental activities, such as: sports, dance, music, and singing, recreational games
However, the most important thing about working as a volunteer in this project is the interaction between you and the children, who need a lot of attention, care, and above all, love.
Getting involved in our programs will allow you to not only help those that most need it, but also get to know a very different and diverse culture. Most of all, by being useful to the society, you will acquire great experience and personal satisfaction.
For this project, volunteers should be very patient with children, who often need care and affection and are not receptive and hard to control. They should be prepared to encounter some difficulties that come with working with children and adolescents.

Started in 1999, we are a group of friends with a desire to help. We work with volunteers from all around the world to create an organization that effectively makes a change in Huancayo, Peru. We match each volunteer with the program best suited to their skills and objectives as a volunteer. We consider each volunteer and partner a key member of our Expand Peru family. We offer six social assistance programs, each with a focus on health, education, and other social issues. Our organization is dedicated to helping those in need and in the best way possible. We team with different social assistance organizations and education centers that share our vision of a better tomorrow for Peru's children. Many of these children come from rough economic situations or homes where they don't receive much love. At Expand Peru, we strive to contribute to the integral development of each child we serve. Our hope is that each of our programs will better the quality of the lives of these children and allow them to improve their situations. We also desire that our volunteers leave with a better sense of the world and what it means to be a global community by using their skills to make a difference.
