    The CIFE's European Online Academy offers a two-year Master programme in cooperation with the Jean Monnet Chair of the Cologne University. Its Master in EU Studies (60 ECTS) is set to provide an accurate blend of theoretical and practical knowledge. The Master in EU Studies is an ideal training programme and additional qualification for young professionals, postgraduates and junior officials interested in, or already working in the field of European integration.

    Objectives:
    * To gain an enhanced knowledge of recent developments in the European integration process and up-to-date insight into proceedings and policy areas, EU institutions, EU Law and Economics (1st year);

    * To specialise in one of the core subjects: Political Science, Economics and EU Law, (2nd year);

    Diploma: Master in EU Studies (60 ECTS credits).

  • Highlights

    The Master in EU Studies offers a high level study programme in European affairs through a combination of e-learning and compact face-to-face learning phases in - amongst others - Berlin, Brussels, Budapest, Istanbul and Rome. The learning process is so organized in order to let the students plan their schedules according to their personal and professional needs.

    Every course is first introduced during the lecture, which is held by the expert at the beginning the semester. The course is then followed by the student through a media learning platform, which is designed according to the features of the topic and the expert. Online Forums, small tests thought to check the student“s learning progress throughout the semester and the editing of an essay are all parts of each course.

    * First Year

    The first year is divided into three terms. During the first workshop, the students have to take part and successfully pass the three compulsory courses of the study programme. During the second and third term students are expected to attend three out of four courses for each term, plus the compulsory simulation, in order to collect at least 30 ECTS learning credits.

    * Second Year

    All participants have to take part in the three annual courses of the core subjects Political Science, Economics and European Law. Participants are requested to submit assignments and to take an active part in all forum discussions offered by the experts in the core subjects. One of the core subjects is to be chosen as a specialised area of study.

    After a reading and preparation phase from July on, the first workshop in September will offer an introduction to the annual courses in the core subjects. The experts will focus the discussion on questions which were raised during the first reading of the course material. This is followed by an intense e-learning phase with assignments, working papers and working groups in order to prepare the interdisciplinary courses during the intense workshop. The second workshop will take place in late autumn focusing on working groups on the core subjects and interdisciplinary lectures, co- and triple teaching and additional offers

    The project involves recognised experts with academic and practical backgrounds as teachers, tutors and researchers such as F. Bafoil (Sciences-Po, Paris), A. Inotai (Institute for World Economics, Budapest), I. Pernice (Walter Hallstein-Institute, Humboldt University, Berlin), W. Wessels (Jean Monnet Chair, University of Cologne).

    Established in 1954, the Centre International de Formation Europeenne (CIFE) is a private non-profit making international organisation which includes several European studies courses as well as conferences, seminars and publications. The programmes of the CIFE encompass educational and research activities concerning European integration, federalism, regionalism and changes within the structures of contemporary society in accordance with a federalist prospective.
