  • Highlights

Oxford is a beautiful old city, with a world-famous university, set amidst lovely countryside. The house is detached house, with a medium-sized garden, in a conservation area situated on a hill to the north-east of the centre of Oxford. It is located within 20-25 minutes' walking distance from the city centre in which the colleges, museums, cafes and main shops are concentrated. There is a bus service every 10 minutes.

The house is on 2 floors, with 4 bedrooms, bathrooms, WC's. The student's room is quite small but comfortable. The main rooms are extremely light: L-shaped living room, with reading corner, dining-room, and conservatory, well-equipped with EFL textbooks, is used exclusively for teaching. It offers a view onto the garden where students can watch squirrels and birds. There is quite a large kitchen where we enjoy outdoor meals.

Less than 5 minutes' walk away are local shops, sub-post office, chemist's and small supermarket. slightly further. Shopping facilities in the centre are excellent with the usual highstreet stores and department stores as well as many more interesting individual shops, in some of the side streets, and especially in the covered market. Book shops are of particularly high quality. Internet cafes are also available in the centre.

Pubs, cafes and restaurants abound. Tucked away down an alleyway is one of the oldest pubs, the Turf Tavern, whilst a walk along the Thameside Path or across Port Meadow will bring students to The Trout, one of the prettiest and most famous. A pizzeria is to be found in the remains of an old church, and on the High Street is one of the oldest coffee houses in Europe.

Headington Hill Park is situated about 10 minutes' walk away. Students can walk or run to it along quiet paths. The University Parks are about 10 minutes' walk in another direction, and form part of the walk into the centre. There is a swimming pool, ice rink, various gyms and sport centres, including the recently opened David Lloyd Centre. For students who would like to try something new, punts can be hired on the River Cherwell, and more conventional boats are also available.
For weekend outings, London is within easy reach. Buses are cheap, run every few minutes and take about one and a half hours. There is a bus-station in the town centre, but there is also a bus-stop about ten minutes' walk from the house. Blenheim Palace, Stratford-upon-Avon and the Cotswolds are all popular local excursions. There are also a number of very pretty Thameside villages not far away, and plenty of walks in the Oxfordshire countryside.

    Excursions and Local Attractions
Oxford is full of interesting tourist sights, Blenheim Palace, for example. In addition, we are members of the National Trust and take students to National Trust Properties in the nearby counties. We also take students for walks in the Oxfordshire countryside.
