It's no wonder why Europe is among many students' top choices to study abroad. The region is filled with fascinating cultures, languages, architecture, art, history, and so much more! GlobaLinks Learning Abroad, formerly known as EuroLearn offers direct enrollment programs that give you the opportunity to choose from a range of academic areas, live and study alongside local students, and immerse yourself in European culture.
Study abroad for a summer at University of Stirling's International Summer School in Scotland with EuroLearn. University of Stirling's International Summer School is specifically designed for international students from around the world and emphasizes experiential learning so that you can make the most of your studies in Scotland.
The University of Stirling is a wonderful place to study - beautiful and vibrant, relaxed and engaging. It has one of the finest campuses in Europe and has an excellent reputation for both research and teaching. The program is not simply a means of gaining academic credit. The program has been designed to incorporate a range of social and cultural activities thus enabling you to get to know other students, as well as giving you the opportunity to travel and experience the real Scotland. The International Summer School is structured in two 4-week blocks which can be taken independently or consecutively and which will include classes in a variety of subjects. You will take two classes during each block with each class being worth 3 U.S. semester credits. There is also an option for a part-time internship in place of 1 class.
Experiental Learning/Field Trips
A key feature or the Stirling International Summer School will be out of class study which will be an integral part of each course module. The content will vary depending on the subject studied but options include visits to the Scottish Parliament, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, Eilean Donan Castle and readings at the MacRobert Arts Centre. These field trips are also open to those students not signed up for that specific module and are included in the program fee. A number of additional excursions to the major Scottish attractions (Edinburgh Castle, Stirling Castle, St Andrews etc.) will also be offered so there really is no excuse not to get out there and experience Scotland!
Orientation/Social Activities
Upon arrival you will be picked up from either Glasgow or Edinburgh airports and brought to your on-campus housing. A full orientation program will be offered to new students at the start of each block which includes a campus tour, bus tour of Stirling and surrounding area, IT, and library induction. In addition to the welcome and farewell events a number of other social activities are planned which ISS and other Stirling students will be invited to attend. There will even be a Scottish Ceilidh to allow you to learn and practice your Scottish Country Dancing!
