  • Description

Volunteers and interns with an interest in African animals can work at either the Kumasi or the Accra Zoo. Both of these zoos have a wide range of animal exhibits ranging from large carnivorous mammals to reptiles and large birds. Participants work with every aspect of zoo operation, from feeding to cage cleaning and work in the animal nursery. Interns with specialized interests such as veterinarian, husbandry, or tourism should talk to us. We can work with the zoos to create specialized programs that match those needs.

  • Highlights

This program provides volunteers with hands-on experience and helps them to see and understand Ghanaian life. There are opportunities in both rural and urban areas. A series of visits and discussions for 6 days allows students to begin adjusting to life in Ghana. The orientation covers among others, culture, language, immigration/visa, health, money, transportation and food matters. Participants are then transferred to their final accommodation.
