Volunteers are welcome in Santiago's elementary school. Students are mainly Mayan and have Spanish as their second language. English is not taught in the school, it can certainly be integrated as a supplemental activity. Volunteers should speak Spanish on an intermediate level.
Situated on Lake Atitlan, one of the most beautiful locations in Central America, with a rich indigenous Mayan culture. This is a truly unique opportunity.

There is no typical ELI volunteer. We work with people from all over the world and a variety of backgrounds. ELI has placed volunteers ranging in age from 18-81. Successful volunteers are flexible, upbeat, energetic, and inquisitive.
