The Elephant Freedom Project is based in Sri Lanka, where it helps elephants from places where they are not cared for. We are against the abuse of elephants, which includes riding them and using them in any form of tourist attraction. We aim to create an environment where people can enjoy observing and interacting with elephants without abuse. We opened our doors in October 2013, and we are looking to keep growing and improving, creating consciousness about the humane treatment of elephants and all animals. What makes us different from other animal welfare projects in Sri Lanka is that we do our best to give elephants all the freedom that we can. By volunteering with us, our program participants will have the opportunity to experience traditional Sri Lankan culture sharing with a local family, learn how to cook local food, and help students improve their English language skills.
