    El Diablo Tranquilo Hostel & Bar is looking to add a new Head Chef and a team of Sous Chefs to our kitchen for the upcoming Summer 2011-2012 season. We are located seaside in Punta del Diablo, Uruguay and provide an international atmosphere with staff members and guests from around the world. Come work with us on the beach this year!

    Our Head Chef and Sous Chefs should be passionate and creative in their work, excited about making new culinary creations and serving them to groups of up to 100 guests and hostel staff members daily throughout the summer season. Head Chef applicants should be willing to take on the challenges of working with limited supplies in a rural coastal area and should have experience running a kitchen, managing and scheduling staff, and doing inventory. Sous chef applicants should be adventurous in the kitchen and should have previous culinary education and/or experience.

    * Full room and board during your work commitment
    * Monthly stipend for Head Chef negotiable based on experience
    * 200 USD monthly stipend for Sous Chefs
    * Staff breakfast until noon and one meal from the restaurant menu each day
    * As employer, El Diablo Tranquilo provides basic public health insurance coverage.
    Travel insurance is optional and the responsibility of the employee to obtain.

  • Qualifications

    Associate Requirements:
    * Experience in culinary, hospitality, and customer service fields
    * Spanish and English Fluency - ability to communicate in both languages with minimal translation assistance
    * Ability to adapt to and maintain balance within combined work and living environment.
    * Creativity and ability to think outside of the box
    * Ability to take initiative and work efficiently under pressure
    * Flexibility of schedule, priorities, and daily routine
    * Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to respond to new challenges in a proactive manner
