I was with them for a year. Great times. No hassle, very professional, highly recommend the experience to others.
I have been working for EF for over 2 1/2 years. I worked in Moscow as a TEFL teacher at the center school at Mayakovskaya, 20 minutes from Red Square, for over 2 years. I currently work in EF's Shanghai office as a recruiter. The people that you meet and the support and opportunities that you get while working for EF make me feel fortunate to work for a truly global company. It is a great way to develop your skills and get an unforgettable cultural exchange at the same time.
I am finishing my second year as a teacher here and can't wait for my third. I love being in Indonesia as there is so much to do and see. Everyday brings something new with teaching and living here. I have also made friends with a lot of students and other English teachers in Indonesia. Jakarta is simply amazing with its size, energy and full on approach to life; it offers something for everyone. Once you have learned to navigate the city via bus, taxi, or minivan, you will find it rewarding&and never boring. There is a great choice of food from traditional Indonesian delights to the more than familiar western restaurants. The nightlife is some of the best I have encountered in my travels around the world and the diversity of it is amazing. If you like variety, Indonesia offers everything. From erupting smoky volcanoes and dense steamy jungles to white sandy beaches and some of the world's best diving, there is always something fun to do here in Indonesia. What I - and other EF's English teachers in Indonesia - enjoy most about living here is the ability we have to explore the city and the country. With EF, teachers have a lifestyle that is far more comfortable than what they could have imagined back home. The houses are both modern and cozy and never far from the schools. The schools are modern, relaxed and most importantly fun!
When I first started teaching English in China, I only anticipated teaching English here for two years. I never imagined the wealth of opportunities that EF and teaching would afford me. My first experience at EF's Hangzhou centre was a real dream, with a lovely staff and a great support network.
When I arrived the snow was a meter deep all over and the temperature was -22-C. Today, 16th May, the sun is shining brightly and I'm sunburned from spending all day in the outdoors yesterday at a barbecue in 28-C. Without teaching English in Russia with EF, I would not have been able to find this astonishing place with its extraordinary architecture, bizarre climate and most welcoming people. Many thanks to EF.
I come from a small town in the north of England. I have been in Moscow now for almost five years, working as an English teacher at EF and trying to learn Russian. Living in Moscow and learning Russian has become my favorite hobby. I hope to see you here soon!
Why work with EF? If you have ever wanted to speak with native English speaker teachers from all corners of the world, you can do it here. Our English teachers in Russia represent the USA, UK, South Africa, New Zealand and India. We all approach teaching English with a relaxed and comfortable feel in the classroom. I hope and look forward to seeing you in the teachers' room in the near future.
Walking into the bright and bustling atmosphere of EF is always the best part of my day. I never know what kind of new and interesting people I will meet, but I always know that we will have a lot of fun and learn from each other. I have made friends with many of my students and other English teachers in Russia.
If you decide to change your career, gaining experience in this country is a good springboard. Native English teachers in China are in great demand and I was keen to learn about China, so I traveled and got to know the country. I also took daily Chinese lessons which really paid off. My fellow teachers and I have now moved onto a variety of fields. You can do anything here. There are so many opportunities; working as a teacher is a great way to take a leadership position in this fast moving economy. If you are adventurous, crave new experience and want to broaden your horizons, China is the place to be.
