The community development program at Edge of Seven supports building projects in the Everest Region of Nepal. While poverty levels in Nepal have dropped in recent years, one quarter of the population still lives below the national poverty line of USD 1 per day.
As a part of the Salleri Water Project, Edge of Seven will install 3km of piping, water taps and greatly improve the existing water supply at our recently completed women's hostel and the nearby community. The hostel, built in 2011, offers 40 girls the opportunity to attend higher secondary school. The hostel is a vibrant, collaborative community where the girls are supported in their studies and have the opportunity to participate in workshops and extra-curriculars.
In partnership with the local government and Edge of Seven's Nepali partner, The Small World, this project will benefit not only the girls living at the hostel, but also the surrounding community.
Volunteers will stay with host families, work on the project during the day and interact with the girls at the hostel in the afternoons. This experience will offer volunteers the opportunity to both experience the local culture and offer support to a much-needed project.
Edge of Seven encourages volunteers to get out and see the world in order to understand the challenges we face globally. We recognize that some of the most powerful advocates of global social change were ignited by a trip to the developing world. Specifically, our projects require travelers with an open mind, a desire to contribute something meaningful, and a dedication to global social change.
Edge of Seven offers volunteer opportunities and socially conscious adventures to both groups and individuals. With program areas and partners in Southeast Asia and Africa, our trips range from 2 weeks to several months.
To get out, give back and experience another culture first-hand, volunteer with Edge of Seven. To travel with us while making an impact, sign up for a trek or socially conscious adventure.
Edge of Seven creates fun, but challenging adventures. The goal behind each adventure is the same: pushing personal limits in order to improve the lives of girls. Volunteer opportunities range from short-term group programs (often infrastructure projects) to long-term individual placements with one of our partnering NGOs.

Our mission is to generate awareness and volunteer support for projects that invest in education, health, and economic opportunity for girls in developing countries. We empower girls by supporting initiatives that are locally driven, community focused, and sustainable. It is our goal to make a measurable difference in the areas that we serve through a chain of dedicated volunteers over time.
