This adventurous journey through Laos captivates with its many nature activities: kayaking - trekking into the high country of the hill tribe people riding elephants mountain biking waterfalls pure nature, life and living along the majestic Mekong River in Luang Prabang. This guided Laos tour is the peak of our Laos programs!
Day 1
Arrival in Vientiane. We spend the afternoon exploring its magnificent colonial buildings, taking in its provincial flair. (D)
Day 2
Monasteries - Colonial Heritage. Become more familiar with the city and its sights such as the renovated, active monasteries (Sri Saket, Haw Pha Kaew) and, most importantly, the national monument "Pra Thrat Luang" with its famed golden paint. In the small monasteries of the city, we'll meet the young monks in their saffron robes. (B)
Day 3
Vientiane to Vang Vieng. After breakfast, we drive north to the small city of Vang Vieng, which is tucked in among rocky cliffs and a small river and has retained its unique charm. In the afternoon, we explore a nearby cave and subsequently enjoy the sunset. (B)
Day 4
Hiking - Caving Kayaking. This adventurous day trip brings us to hidden caves and the surrounding villages. We become part of this unbelievable landscape of rock, jungle and rivers. In the afternoon, we paddle by kayak back to Vang Vieng. (B, L)
Day 5
Vang Vieng Cave. Slowly the road winds along the slopes, over mountain passes and through small villages. In the afternoon, we reach a recently discovered cave. With adventurous spirit and our equipment, we investigate the wealth of this hidden place. (B, L, D)
Day 6
Kayaking on the Nam Ming River. With our kayaks, we embark into the Nam Ming and paddle through the wildly enchanting landscape. We spend the night in tents and share a campfire on the beach along the river (only in dry season, during rainy season). (B, L, D)
Day 7 - 8
Highlands of Laos - Local People. We continue on foot, and our challenging multi-day trek takes us through the back country of Laos, which is difficult to reach. Our guides lead us from village to village, and we have an opportunity to observe the true, original life of the local people. We will have home-stays with the villagers and beds with mosquito nets. Day 9
Trekking - Elephant Camp. Our last trekking day brings us down into the plains. At midday, we arrive at a beautiful resort, we rediscover all the amenities of civilization along a lovely river. Go by boat to Tad Sae Waterfall (dry from February to July). (B, L, D)
Day 10 - Elephant Tour - Kayak - Luang Prabang. Observe the elephants bathing in the river in the morning. Take a 1 hour elephant ride, then kayak on the Nam Khan to reach the cultural capital of Luang Prabang. In the evening explore this stunning and idyllic city. (B, L)
Day 11
City tour by bike - Temples Monasteries. Our focus is the history and beauty of the city. The old partially renovated colonial buildings and nearly 30 monasteries in the city are alone worth a whole day. We converse with monks on the steps of the monasteries, and later stop in at one of the delicious roadside restaurants. (B)
Day 12
Relax in Luang Prabang. (B)
Day 13
Mekong River and Pak Ou Cave. You journey by boat upriver to the Cave of the Thousand Buddha's, here innumerable Buddha statues overlook the Mekong from within the cave. In the afternoon, you head back to Luang Prabang for some free time. (B, L, D)
Day 14 - Departure from Laos. (B)
