Description

Christ-Centered organization created to address societal problems which manifest themselves in the psychological and social areas. To this end, the Center is developing preventative activities for a population seen as poor in the four levels of existence: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Currently the Center is working in the neighborhood at the north of Quito.

The overall objective of this project is to implement a psychological and social intervention, which responds to the poverty which people experience in the four levels of existence. In order to fulfill this objective, the Center is working with the families specially the children as helping with homework. Furthermore, we seek to respond to every psychological or social need which arises among the beneficiaries of the program.

Volunteers can be involved in helping the children with homework. We work primarily with Math and English homework, but also with language homework for the younger children, and lessons with Science and Social Studies. The children are between five and thirteen years old and come to the center in the afternoon. We would also like to receive volunteers who are interested in helping lead activities such as soccer, basketball, or dance.

This volunteer position offers an opportunity to practice Spanish, experience the culture, and get to know the Ecuadorian people. In addition, you will have the opportunity to develop relationships with adorable children and learn about some of the psychological and social problems facing Ecuadorian society.

We are a non-profit organization which is legally recognized by the Ecuadorian Government. Volunteers with Eco Volunteer UP have the choice of many worthy programs, such as vulnerable orphanages, institutes for children with disabilities, street children and local indigenous communities. There are volunteer programs located in and around Quito, the capital of Ecuador, as well as programs located in the Cloud Forest and its communities close to Quito, the Ecuadorian Amazon, the Galapagos Islands and other key places around Ecuador.
