Description

This project was created out of the need for the many poor elderly people who have become sick and abandoned by their own families who have neither the time nor can afford to take care of them.

The Elderly project is a centre that gives home to elderly people who have been abandoned living and begging on the streets, selling cigarettes and snacks and are homeless and also for others who have families with special needs including mental problems.

Volunteers will help by reading, cooking and playing with them, doing exercises, taking a walk with them, massaging, helping to feed, teaching bakery, handcrafts etc. Also volunteers can do their own research in areas like health and human science.

Eco Volunteer UP Foundation's Mission Statement

We are a non-profit organization which is legally recognized by the Ecuadorian Government. Volunteers with Eco Volunteer UP have the choice of many worthy programs, such as vulnerable orphanages, institutes for children with disabilities, street children and local indigenous communities. There are volunteer programs located in and around Quito, the capital of Ecuador, as well as programs located in the Cloud Forest and its communities close to Quito, the Ecuadorian Amazon, the Galapagos Islands and other key places around Ecuador. We offer volunteers real immersion in the various Ecuadorian ecosystems, and the unique opportunity for learning and sharing about Ecuadorian cultures, costumes and traditions.
