Description

The aim of this volunteer work is to bring as much benefit as possible to the local people, especially the children. In this volunteer program the farm works together with the families of the community and with the school of the area. There is widespread international support for protection of the animals and the environment but not quite as much attention has been paid to the human populace. Profit that is eventually generated by the hacienda, from such activities as dairy farming, horseback riding and camping, will be used toward the maintenance and upgrade of the property. Also a portion will be contributed directly to the community, in ways that are in alignment with our goal of benefiting the people, especially the children.

Volunteers will be working with the community as monitoring plants that have been introduced in the area, and incentive to the people to sow local vegetation in their gardens instead to introduce plants. Besides, volunteers will help to the families to recollect fruits from the farm and bring to the INNFA commodore and know and stay a day with the children with lower resources. Also volunteers will sow local plants with the children and promote the nature care to the children.

In the school volunteers will assist in the English teaching, doing a walk to the farm to show them the environmental projects and play.

USD 300 per month or USD 140 per week

Program Fees Include:

Pick up airport in Quito, transfer to the Galapagos airport to the project, accommodation in the farm house (2 people per room, hot water). The accommodation has everything normally expected in a house, a family from the area who lives in the farm will attend and help you in anything that you need. The volunteers need to buy their groceries and cook for themselves in the kitchen where you have all the facilities to cook.

This project values the time and effort of the volunteers, therefore as we give you the following activities:

1) One day of horse riding
2) One day of surfing (with instructor and surfing board)

At the end of your volunteering you will receive a certificate (signed by the CCDS and the farm Manager).

Volunteers with Eco Volunteer UP have the choice of many worthy programs, such as vulnerable orphanages, institutes for children with disabilities, street children and local indigenous communities.
