Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT) is a public tertiary education institution which has two campuses; one in Napier city and a second in Gisborne. Both locations are in the Hawkes Bay region on the East coast of New Zealand’s North Island. Hawkes Bay is a major tourist destination in New Zealand offering wineries, beaches, extensive cycle paths, the Art Deco city of Napier and many exciting outdoor activities and beautiful scenic areas to visit.
Four academic Faculties offer a wide range of study options at Certificate, Diploma, undergraduate degree, Graduate Diploma and Postgraduate Diploma levels. Specialized academic programmes include: Wine Science, Viticulture, Beauty and Body Therapy, Tourism and Travel. These are practical courses underpinned by academic theory and which provide our students with the right qualifications and skills to get a job in their chosen career area. In 2012 over 9000 students studied at EIT including 440 International students from 35 different countries.
In addition to our academic programmes, we have an excellent English Language Centre. Our English Language Centre offers students General English courses from beginners to Advanced levels and English for Academic Purposes courses for students looking to go on to further academic study. We can also run short courses for groups of students which can be developed to meet our partner’s needs. Our English Language Centre is an accredited IELTS Testing Centre.

EIT has a sports centre, a Student Health Centre, a bookshop, a comprehensive Library with free internet access, student cafes, and a Learning Skills Centre where students can receive individual academic support.
