    SIE International Summer School is the first and only American-standard summer school in China that provides students an unprecedented opportunity to enjoy the summer in China while earning American college credits. In 2011, SIE ISS will have two campuses in the most international metropolises in China--Beijing: University of International Business and Economics, and Shanghai: East China Normal University.

    SIE ISS - University of International Business and Economics invites you to experience the thrill of campus life in one of the most prestigious and international university in China. UIBE was founded in 1951 as the educational and training base for government officials responsible for China's economic and international business administration under the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation. A leading university in China, UIBE serves as a research base for the Chinese administration in the fields of economics, law, regional studies, industrial policies, WTO issues, management, as well as foreign languages.

    This summer in Beijing, the unique SIE International Summer School in UIBE offers you the challenging college education in U.S. education standards and exciting social activities in Beijing to produce a well-rounded summer of personal challenge and growth. From July 4th to August 12th, SIE ISS offers more than 30 courses in Business, Mathematics, Humanities, Social Sciences, Fine Arts and Chinese Language taught by full-time faculties from top U.S. universities including UC-Berkeley, University of Virginia, Middlebury College, UCLA, etc. Most of SIE ISS's courses are from entry level to intermediate level courses that meet the general education requirements in most colleges and universities in the U.S. and allow students to transfer the credits back to their home universities for a bachelor degree. We also offer special courses that centers around Chinese studies including China business, intensive Chinese language, and Chinese history and culture.

    Along with the summer school courses, SIE ISS also offers Business Program and Culture Program which provide the students with an opportunity to get to know the business and culture environment in China. Featured Business Program is designed to familiarize students with the business world of China, especially the experience of recent graduates working in the finance and consulting industries. For undergraduates especially freshmen and sophomores who find it difficult to get an internship during the summer, the Business Program at SIE ISS is a great opportunity to network with high-profile representatives from the top financial institutes and strengthen your profile for a potential internship or job offer. Besides, Culture Program will take students to visit landmark sites in Shanghai and organize social events that connect the students and make the summer experience both enriching and fun. Whats more, our alumni program will provide the platform for students to keep in touch with each other and take with them the friendship that may last for a lifetime.

    SIE International Summer School offers more benefits to students besides world-class education. The Business Program and Culture Program will lead students to explore China in multifaceted ways with great breadth and depth.

    Business Program

    The Business Program is designed to offer students the opportunity to better understand the business world in China and to establish valuable connections. We invite both prominent business leaders and recent gradu­ates to lecture on their experiences and communicate with students for career guidance. In doing so, we aim to give students knowledge not only of the operations of the Chinese business environment, but also the job-seeking skills necessary in making the first career move. For our accounting classes in the 2010 East China Normal University Inter­national Summer School, we invited representatives from Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG, and PricewaterhouseCoopers to evaluate the final student presentations.

    Culture Program

    Elaborately designed Culture Program takes students to visit the historic and scenic spots in their host cities, be it Shanghai or Beijing. For our 2011 programs, we will be taking students to the following sites:

    Shanghai: China Pavilion at the World Expo site; Yu Garden; Jade Bud­dha Temple; watch a play in Pudong Central Financial District.

    Beijing: The Great Wall; Forbidden City; Summer Palace; Temple of Heaven; Opera at National Center for Performing Arts.

    Students Full payment of all applicable fees should be paid within 4 weeks upon students' acceptance to the SIE International Summer School. Late payments may result in compulsory change in course registration.

    * Student fees includes administration fee and student activity fee, and every student must pay student fees along with tuition. Please note that students will be responsible for their own insurance during their stay in China.

    With a view to encouraging better academic performance and facilitating a good studying environment, SIE ISS offers scholarships to the top students in class. GPA, professor's recommendation, and number of courses are considered for scholarship opportunity. Please notice that students who register for only one class are not eligible for scholarships.
