Costa Rica: Rural Areas

Consortium Summer Program: EARTH University has partnered with ten US universities to form the Consortium for Sustainability to offer a unique study abroad opportunity in Costa Rica. This program takes place at EARTH in the summer and consists of two sessions, from May to June and June to July, respectively.

The investment per session is USD3,800 and includes teaching, room and board, on campus services, local transportation and administrative fees. Courses are taught in English.

Trimester Program: For students who are interested in complementing their studies at EARTH University, the Office of International Academic Relations at EARTH (RAI) offers the opportunity to experience an educational model that promotes critical thinking, teamwork, and practical application of knowledge.

As an international student you will be part of an educational model dedicated to prepare students who are interested in protecting the environment using new and realistic methods. You will be part of a multicultural environment where you can experience first-hand the benefits of an integrated world.

Courses are taught in Spanish. The cost for a trimester is USD6,405, which includes meals, lodging, tuition, access to campus facilities and administrative fee.

Internship Program: We challenge you to be part of a different kind of world by participating in a unique educational experience in an international university setting. You will have the opportunity to test your knowledge, share your experiences, learn from students from all over the world and interact with some of the best international faculty and staff.

As an international student you will enjoy living at EARTH University. EARTH offers many educational opportunities at its 2 campuses in Guácimo and La Flor-Guanacaste. To be part of this program, EARTH offers two alternatives: 1. Doing your internship at a farm, 2. Working on a research project.

The monthly cost for this program is USD1,324. This amount includes tuition from a professor or administrative employee, meals, accommodation and administrative fee. Intermediate level of Spanish is required.

Tailor-made program for academic institutions: EARTH University, through its International Academic Relations Office, offers academic institutions the opportunity to hold short specialized technical courses at our campus. This program of short courses is being offered at different times throughout the year and will consist of a 3 to 4 weeks term.

Spanish and intercultural learning program: this program can be offered either as a supplement to any of the above or as a full program of Spanish as a Second Language. The program is designed to enhance students competencies in Spanish and learning in a multicultural context.

You will leave EARTH with new confidence, knowledge, and skills in agriculture, community development, sustainability, as well as improved Spanish proficiency.

By coming to EARTH you will gain a better understanding of alternative production systems, organic agriculture, and creative recycling systems through program features such as:

* The opportunity to join ongoing projects in our University farms and local communities
