The Department of Romance Studies and the Global Education Office for Undergraduates (GEO-U) of Duke University offer a six-week, two-course summer intensive Spanish language program, located at the University of Alicante in Spain.
Alicante's rich culture is attributable to the importance of its port throughout history. The picturesque Mediterranean architecture is complemented by Roman and Arabic influences. Today it is the eighth largest city in Spain and a popular area for tourism. Students may study Spanish at either the elementary or intermediate levels at the University of Alicante.
Homestays with Spanish families enrich the linguistic and cultural experience. Three meals are provided per day by the homestay.

This immersion experience will enrich the student's linguistic and cultural knowledge while providing opportunities to improve spoken Spanish skills.
