If it's the bright lights you're after, then the West Coast is not for you - unless you choose rather to gaze up at star-studded skies. If it's lights, camera, action, then keep to the fast lane in the city; steer clear of life in the slow lane, for that's what we're all about: braaivleis, sunny skies and dodging the stresses and strains of urban sprawl.
Dolphin Bed & Breakfast + Self Catering Accommodation offers you the chance to catch up on your reading, to soak up the sun. Oh, man, life is great and the living is easy. Here three-star comfortable and affordable accommodation is the order of the day and sets the tone for a good night's sleep.
We strive to live up to our credo that "the customer is king" (or queen, as the case may be). Late lie-ins, leisurely breakfasts - the little things that make for a great getaway.
From Stellenbosch / Somerset West:
Take the R304/R302 via Malmesbury joining the N7. From the N7, turn left onto the R45 (to Hopefield). At the R27 (West Coast road) crossroad, turn right (turning left takes you back to Cape Town). Approximately five kilometers in, turn left onto a gravel road (only 4km of it) to St. Helena Bay. This will bring you to the R399 crossroad (right takes you to Velddrif and left takes you back to Vredenburg). Cross over the intersection and follow the road to Stompneusbaai.
Travel 17km (in a westerly direction), passing the following: Turnoff to Laingville, St. Helena Hotel, police station, St. Helena shopping center, total petrol pumps and turnoff into Sandy Point Harbor, Da Gama Monument, left turn gravel road to Paternoster. Bypass the Stompneusbaai fishing village on the left. Bypass Golden Mile development on the right. At the entrance, another Dolphin B&B sign draws you further on into old Britannia Bay. Pass a sign at the left turn-in that says Boulevard/Travelodge Caravan Park, then a row of blue gum trees. Here the road S-bends to the right. Just pas the three flagship townhouses is a sign pointing to the right to Britannia Bay; there is also a B&B + S/C road sign. The road S-bends to the right and snakes again, to the left. The third road to the right is Ecklonia Street. The brown international Dolphin B&B sign points to turn right. Ours is the sixth house on the right overlooking the bay with a bright teal-blue roof. Parking either down the driveway or on the off-ramp just above (avoid parking on neighbor property “Joan se Plek” please).
