Did you know that Denmark is #1 in the world when it comes to most biotech patents per inhabitant? From biotech innovation and concepts through drug development and testing, the Biomedicine program takes you through the industries of biotechnology and biomedicine in the world-famous Medicon Valley region of greater Copenhagen and southern Sweden (just across the sound). Learn about pharmaceutical and biotech-based methods for diagnosis and treatment of disease; gain a broad understanding of drug discovery and development, and get an introduction to the intersection between research and business in a global arena
Students in Biomedicine will enroll in the "Medical Biotechnology and Drug Development" core course, which is an introduction to biomedicine, drug discovery, and drug development. Exploration of opportunities of biotechnology for medicine. Cases from the pharmaceutical and biotech research community.
Students in this program will also participate in two course-integrated study tours. This semester program includes study tours around Denmark, and to Edinburgh (fall) or London (spring) to gain a comparative perspective on these issues. Both cities are at the center of advanced British research in pharmaceuticals and biotech. The tours feature highly topical visits to biomedical research centers and companies, highlighting topics being studied in class.
