Devenport Estate, 15 minutes from Wellington - a hobby vineyard and bed & breakfast homestead, situated on a hillside 1.2 acre section, nestled in amongst native bush, with over 400 Pinot Gris/Pinot Noir grapevines. This Edwardian Styled Homestead has stunning views to Somes Island in Wellington Harbour. Being only 12kms from central Wellington, it is arguably the closest hobby vineyard to the Capital.

The current homestead was completed at the turn of the century, [that is, early 2000] and replaced an old cottage built in the 1930s on the section. Today Devenport Estate offers Bed & Breakfast in a private seaside setting that is only 15 minutes from Wellington City and the Inter Island ferry terminals. Ideal when catching a ferry, going to the Westpac Trust Stadium or to shows/films in Wellington. We are a 10 minute train ride into Wellington - many of our guests leave their cars in Korokoro and catch the train into town from Petone Station.

Extensive landscaping has carved out a colourful garden around the homestead. Wooden arbors has been built and planted with climbing wisteria, grape vines, honeysuckle and roses. Tuberous Begonias and Dahlias are in recycled brick planters for February/April flowering alongside the sheltered courtyard. A bricked walled flower garden hosts over 100 roses and annual bedding plants for summer flowering. Water-features, outdoor tables, deckchairs and statues complete the picture. Over 1500 spring bulbs have been planted above the rose garden.

Play deck quoits, watch the grapes on the vines or just sink back and soak up the views.

Devenport Estate is also handy to Petone and the Hutt Valley. A ten minute walk to Petone Station, short drives to the Bohemian Cafes of Petone's Jackson Street and shopping malls of Lower Hutt. The location is ideal for a visitor to the Wellington Region with a car and wanting access to Wellington, Petone and the Hutt Valley.

Directions into Korokoro

At the end of the road turn RIGHT onto Pito-One Road. At the next intersection, take the LEFT turn into Korokoro Road and keep LEFT at the next road split and stay on Korokoro Road. Devenport Estate is on the fifth bend on Korokoro Road. It is the first house on the left of Korokoro Road, being opposite Number 42. (Even though we are number 1 Korokoro Road, we are a wee way up Korokoro Road. Don't be put off by the house numbers on the right-hand side of the road!)

There are two letter boxes at the top of the drive - 1 and 3, and the name DEVENPORT is on the signpost.

Please bring your car down the drive onto the section, there is plenty of off-street parking. Walk through the Lychgate or use the path at the back of the house and press the door bell where a warm Wellington welcome awaits you!

Directions if coming by train to Devenport - courtesy pick-up from Petone Station

Our local station - Petone Station is only a 10 minute train ride from Wellington, and is only a ten minute walk down Korokoro Hill from Devenport. Trains leave Wellington Railway Station every half hour on the Upper Hutt, Lower Hutt/Melling and Taita Lines - MAKE SURE IT SAYS THAT IT STOPS AT ALL STATIONS. Petone Station is the third stop from Wellington.
