Description

Each teacher is required to perform up to 30 weekly hours of teaching, (am and pm teaching) of a General English Course to students aged 9-16 of different language ability.

Hours/Days:
- 30 weekly hours of teaching
- 10 weekly hours of pastoral duties
- 1 full day-off per week
- testing of students upon arrival
- lesson preparation time

General Duties and Responsibilities for All Teachers

It is expected that all teachers will:
- Plan and deliver lessons appropriate to the students' level. (Further information available in Teachers Handbook, which will be issued to you)
- Arrive prepared and ready for class at all times.
- Attend a short teacher meeting once per week

Pastoral Duties

DEC Camp will provide free accommodation and full board for staff in return for pastoral duties, which are performed in addition to your other contractual duties.

Each staff member will be asked to perform up 10 weekly hours of Pastoral Duties on one-two mornings/nights per week. Pastoral Duties may vary, but will generally include:

- Helping counselors to settle students for bed/waking them up
- Dealing with any problems or emergency situations as required
- Dealing with any general accommodation problems
- Helping to ensure that students are in their accommodation and not elsewhere on the campus unauthorised.
- Attendance of evening programmes

Lunchtime duties, such as lunchtime sittings and queues, may also be required. Our counselors will usually perform this duty, however, teachers should note that in cases of short-staffing due to absence etc, it is expected that teachers will assist with this duty if required.

The attendance of the staff orientation prior to the commencement of the camp operations is obligatory for all staff members.

Qualifications

- Native English speaker
- Hold Degree PLUS CELTA or equivalent qualification
- Primary School Teacher qualification is an advantage
- Ideally, previous experience of teaching children/young people in a similar or related environment
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced and sometimes pressured environment
- Ability to work as part of a team, sharing resources, ideas and lending support to colleagues as required.
