All over the world, governments and public institutions are challenged to impart high-quality services, respond more swiftly to citizen needs and rectify problems more effectively and efficiently. The demand for properly trained managerial staff is answered through CIIM's Master in Public Service Management (MPSM).
The intellectually challenging MPSM programme is completed by many of our students within one year. Others may take as long as 18 months. It is a specialized MBA level course, a distinctive educational experience offered by CIIM.
The MPSM is specifically designed for individuals committed to public service, including among others, civil servant professionals in the most productive years of their careers as well as those who aspire to civil service positions. These professionals are seeking to develop universally recognized skills of highly effective management which are applicable to public-sector organizations.
The main objectives of the MPSM programme are to:
- To equip graduates with the latest managerial skills tailored to meet the needs of the public sector.
- To develop a firm understanding of key concepts relating to public sector management reform
- To develop financial, budgeting and human resource management tools, in the context both of public and public-private service delivery mechanisms
- To develop the communications and personal development skills that transform managers into leaders
- To develop the capacity for innovation and creativity in problem-solving
The CIIM MPSM programme is aimed at:
- Students and practitioners who have a professional interest in the public-sector.
- Experienced professionals in the most productive years of their careers wishing to increase or enhance their managerial know-how.
- Citizens of developing or transitional countries who wish to make a forceful and promising contribution to the governmental or semi-governmental sectors of the country.
