CELTA Course with Curtin University
Description
This is an intensive 4 week course: 9:00 - 5:15 Monday to Friday (plus homework!). It involves six hours of teaching practice.
CELTA is an introductory course for candidates who have little or no previous English language teaching experience. It may also be suitable for those with some experience but with little previous training. Well-established internationally, internally assessed and externally moderated, it is intensive and practical.
Successful candidates will:
* Receive a certificate from Cambridge ESOL and a report from Curtin English Language Centre
* Gain knowledge and skills in English language teaching (ELT) based on international best practice
* Satisfy the basic minimum teaching qualification requirements for staff in accredited English language teaching centres in Australia (with a first degree in any discipline or equivalent) and most centres world wide
* Be well briefed in post-course employment opportunities both in Australia and internationally
Highlights
It is a very demanding and challenging course, but also very rewarding.
Assessment
The assessment is continuous and integrated, meaning that:
* Assessment takes place throughout the course
* Each assessed component contributes to the overall grade
* Candidates are informed of their progress through oral and written feedback throughout the course
Certificates
* Certificates will be awarded to candidates who meet course requirements and whose performance meets the criteria in all assessment components (except where dishonesty or plagiarism is detected). An outside assessor validates the results.
