Cultural Embrace by API offers a wonderful opportunity to volunteer in beautiful Marche region of Italy. This program allows you an authentic experience to discover Italy while embracing their culture. Volunteers will live with an Italian host family and tutor them English for 3-5 hours per week; and volunteer at a local school teaching and tutoring English for ~15 hours per week. Serve and live the Italian lifestyle from 1-3 months (90 days maximum).
Cultural Embrace by API partners with a local organization that works closely with school districts, providing assistance to the Italian schools and families.Volunteers will serve the local schools, communities, and families to improve their English skills. Our goals are to help educate and familiarize the Italian locals to learn and improve their English skills, pronunciation of words, and listening comprenhension.
Positions are available throughout the school year (October to mid June) in 4, 8, and 12 weeks increments. Volunteers wanting to start in May are only allowed to stay for 4 weeks maximum. This program was designed to be a mutually benefical cultural and language exchange between the foreign volunteer and the local host family, school, and community. Role of the Volunteer Language Tutor
The Volunteer will teach in schools, town halls, and host family's home for a maximum of 20 hours per week, usually five days a week; and will have room and meals with the carefully screened host family. Italian language is helpful, but not required; and volunteers should have high competency and command of the English grammar and language.
Tutors responsibilities are, but not limited to, the following:
Teach during or after-school activities
Assist Italian teachers during classes
Teach conversational English to groups of students
Help students wtih their English homework
Tutor English during initiatives organized by the school, community, or town hall
Help the members of his/her host family to learn English
