  • Description

By working with Art Relief International, you can expect to play a large hands-on role with many art therapy projects. Unlike any other volunteer placements, the art program works with a diversity of groups that focuses on a broad range of social issues. You will have an opportunity to work with Burmese refugees, physically and mentally disabled people, indigenous hill tribes groups, people living with HIV/AIDS, and young single mothers. This opportunity is ideal for someone who likes to be involved in numerous projects and can work independently as well as within a group.

As a volunteer, you will design and implement art workshops for a number of different organizations. During these workshops you will work side-by-side with a variety of different people and help them long until the project is completed. Projects vary largely depending on who you will be designing the workshop for, but the end result is always the same: a therapeutic and fun experience for all involved.

  • Highlights

Chiang Mai has a close-knit volunteer community, and is a great place to pause and help out the numerous groups we work with. It is the second biggest city next to Bangkok, and never ceases to amaze with its dazzling temples, lush and mountainous landscape, and distinct Lanna culture.

  • Qualifications

Art Relief International is looking for volunteers from a wide-range of backgrounds and experiences. The only requirement is an enthusiasm for what we do and an appreciation of the arts as a tool for social change. If you are a creative person who wants to empower disenfranchised individuals through art, this program is perfect for you!
