The Intensive English and University Pathway Programs at California State University, Northridge provide opportunities for you to acquire English language skills while experiencing life as an American student, allowing you to gain the skills necessary to continue your education at an English-speaking University.

Established in 1977, the Intensive English Program (IEP) is a year-round, academic, on-campus program designed to ensure that you acquire and improve the English-language skills you need for success in the undergraduate or graduate degree program of your choice at colleges or universities.

Highlights

Located in suburban Los Angeles, CSUN is a short drive to Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Santa Monica and Pacific Ocean beaches. The university has 35,000 students from 97 countries. Student advisers help students become familiar with campus life, meet and get to know American students, and learn about the language and culture of the United States. Conditional Admission to bachelor's and master's degree programs, and TOEFL waiver upon completion of Intensive English Program advanced level courses, are available. TOEFL/IELTS preparation courses are offered as part of the Intensive English Program. CSUN is an official ETS test center for TOEFL and TEIC.

Tours and Activities!

All students will have the option of participating in some of the following fun activities: pool parties, movie nights, shopping trips, and tours of Los Angeles, Disneyland and Universal Studios.

Students sign up for trips in the IEUP office. Seats are reserved on a first come, first served basis.

Intensive English students celebrate the end of each session with special activities.

University Attributes

The CSUN campus is modern and state-of-the-art. Facilities include the Oviatt Library with approximately 1.4 million books and periodicals; high-tech scientific and computer labs; sports, athletic and recreational centers; an on-campus bank and a full-service Student Health Center. On-campus housing is available. All housing units are apartment style with free wireless Internet connection.

CSUN offers hundreds of on-campus events including concerts, theatrical performances, films, guest speakers and sports competitions year-round.

The CSUN campus occupies 356 acres (144 hectares) and is within easy walking distance of many restaurants, supermarkets and shops.

IEUP students enjoy countless opportunities to meet and interact with university students. CSUN provides a variety of activities - educational, cultural and social including student clubs; musical, theatrical and sports events; enrichment activities hosted by various academic departments; and presentations by distinguished faculty and prominent figures in politics, science and the arts.
