  • Description

    Volunteers work side-by-side with local people and learn about the social challenges facing this dynamic city through service with Cross-Cultural Solutions. During your 1 to 12 weeks in Thailand, work to change the lives of the local residents in communities all around you. Bangkok is a vibrant city with many volunteer opportunities available at a variety of organizations.

    When you volunteer in Thailand, you have the opportunity to immerse yourself in a country known for its scenic diversity and ancient traditions. Bordered by Malaysia, Myanmar (formerly known as Burma), Laos, and Cambodia, "Thailand" means "Land of the Free" and is the only country in Southeast Asia that has never been colonized. Though it is heavily influenced by India and China, Thailand has a unique and fascinating culture of its own. It has attracted international travelers for many years, who are interested in its Buddhist roots and its natural beauty.

    Volunteers in Thailand are involved with:
    * Caring for infants and children
    * Teaching children
    * Teaching English
    * Assisting teachers
    * Sharing their professional skills/experience
    * Caring for the elderly
    * Observing and assisting local health professionals
    * Caring for people with disabilities
    * Assisting teachers of special education
    * Working toward women's empowerment

    Cross-Cultural Solutions is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that addresses critical global issues by providing meaningful and sustainable volunteer service to communities abroad, and investing in the local economies and people.

    To-date, more than 25,000 people have participated in our volunteer programs, providing over two million hours of service to communities we serve in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe. The continuous, year-round service that CCS provides creates opportunities for cultural exchange; promotes education, childhood development and healthy living; encourages domestic volunteering and awareness of community needs; breaks down stigmas and stereotypes; and improves quality of life.

  • Highlights

    Volunteers in Bangkok experience both the serenity of hundreds of years of Buddhism and the fast-pace of a major urban center. The capital of Thailand, Bangkok is a central point that includes the Grand Palace and several floating markets. With a population of approximately 8.2 million, expanding to 10 million daily with commuters, Bangkok enjoys a constant flow of activity. From Buddhist temples, flower markets, and river boat rides to bowling, karaoke, and international restaurants and shops, Bangkok embraces every aspect of modern and traditional Thai culture.
