Costa Rica TEFL

I received my TEFL certification through Costa Rica TEFL this past July and I cannot say enough how valuable the experience was for me! The teacher trainers are amazing. They are patient and knowledgeable, but also consistently ensure that the students are having fun. The classes are interesting and interactive and small in size so that each student gets all the support and feedback necessary to develop as a confident and effective teacher. My favorite part of the course was that students get to actually teach EFL classes throughout the month. This allowed me to immediately put to use all of the tools I was learning, become familiar with various levels of students, and also to feel like I was a part of the community in beautiful Samara. I have now been teaching EFL in Costa Rica for six months and loving every minute of it!

I completed the Costa Rica TEFL course in April 2011 and have nothing but positive things to say of my experience. The teacher trainers were engaging, energetic and excited for us to learn. They taught the same way we were learning to teach - using different learning styles and keeping us engaged. Although it was a lot of work, it was all really fun. It was broken down in a really digestible way and was always incredibly interesting. My favorite part of the course was the experience I got in teaching in a real classroom. Which started the first week. I was able to get practice what I as learning and get real feedback immediately. The teacher trainers supported us the whole time and I really felt like I couldn't fail. Because of this I was super confident in the classroom and I felt that my students had a better learning experience. Samara is a beautiful beach town with tons of restaurants and friendly people, I loved exploring on the weekends and mornings before class. I would recommend this course to anyone interested in becoming TEFL certified.

Costa Rica TEFL offered a comprehensive certification program that really prepared me to teach English to a broad range of students. The TEFL Trainers made each class engaging and interactive so that we learned by doing, rather than buy simply listening to a lecture. The class size was small, making it easy to get one-on-one help from the trainers. Plus, Samara is a beautiful beach town for relaxing on the weekends!

I am very fortunate and proud to be a graduate of the Costa Rica TEFL program. When I applied for the course, I had already been teaching English as a Foreign Language for a year and I was focused mainly on earning my credentials as a teacher rather than learning how to be one. Now that I have finished the program I understand that my TEFL certificate is of considerably less value than the knowledge I have gained from the course. Before beginning to study with Costa Rica TEFL I already had my 'dream job' and felt that I was a good teacher. However nothing could have prepared me for the wealth of knowledge and resources I would gain by participating in this course. Costa Rica TEFL has made me a more confident and effective teacher ten times fold. I am now able to offer my students much more organized and student centered classes, which present them with an abundance of activities and exercises I didn't even realize existed until I studied with Costa Rica TEFL. The course was amazingly well organized from textbook to teacher training to classes, front to back. The amount of and quality of both peer and trainer feedback offers a multitude of critiques and ideas that only this course can provide. One of my favorite aspects of the course was how much I learned not only from the teacher trainers, but also from my fellow trainees. The ability to share our ideas, frustrations and achievements throughout the course was priceless. The staff was incredibly diverse and knowledgeable and made themselves completely available to any trainee who needed any kind of aid inside and out of the school. I was also given the opportunity to meet some really amazing fellow teachers through the course who I am and intend to continue to be in close touch with as we begin our careers as English Teachers here in Costa Rica. I recommend this course for anyone who is or aspires to be a good English teacher, the opportunities that you will open up for yourself by participating in this class will without a doubt prove to be invaluable. Thank you Costa Rica TEFL, I know that my participation in this course is a huge turning point in my career as a teacher, and my life as a whole. Pura Vida!

I just took the Costa Rica TEFL course. I can't even start to describe in a short paragraph how valuable this was for me. I was able to learn about many different teaching methodologies and approaches. Probably the best thing for me was the in-class teaching experience...this gave me the confidence to plan lessons properly. The teachers were great and my classmates were a lot of fun. I recently found a job teaching here in Heredia and I couldn't be happier.

I recently completed the Costa Rica TEFL in Samara and the course exceeded all my expectations. I especially enjoyed the balance of class instruction with time to complete lesson plans and activities. It included practice teaching to Spanish locals which was an essential practical component. The instructors were experienced English teachers who emphasized the areas of speech of which Spanish speakers struggle. Samara is a small beach town and an excellent learning environment with outdoor classrooms and a beach view. Upon completion of the course, I was immediately hired to work as an English instructor at Intercultura in Heredia, making my reason for taking the TEFL course completely worthwhile.

For me the Costa Rica TEFL course was such an amazing experience!...As a Costa Rican, I was lucky enough to win a full scholarship to be able to become an EFL teacher!...This is something I always wanted and this course was the tool for me to achieve it!. As a non-native my experience was really unique. It was hard and intense and for moments I wasn't sure if I was going to make it, but the support, help, willingness and great vibe that I got from the teachers and everyone at Costa Rica TEFL, including my fellow peers, was more than enough to get me through and to enjoy every moment of it!... By the end of it I honestly didnt want it to be over! I wish we could've had more time!!... I have a newly found appreciation for teaching as I got so attached to the kids that came to our classes in Samara every week! Samara was just the icing on the cake! What better place to relax after every intense class and every intense week! I hope to use this certificate as my ticket to see the world while I improve my teaching skills! And I can definetely say that every single thing I learned I will use!! I highly recommend this course, I believe its completely organized, well prepared, the staff is amazing, and the experience is just one of a kind! Thank you Barbara, Kat, Kim and Sonya. Being at Costa Rica TEFL has been the greatest experience I have had with languages. For me, as a Costa Rican, it was especially interesting because English is not my first language. I won a full scholarship and was able to complete my dream of becoming a TEFL teacher. At the beginning, I thought it was going to be very hard, but it was not, it was actually really fun! I first went to the school as a student, but then became a trainee, it was fun being my classmate´s teacher… they all said: whoa, look at Bryan, teaching!!! The classes were great and the course was very well organized. The teacher trainers were awesome and always helpful, they always helped us to do our best. I really loved peer and trainer feedback after classes; we were able to teach better each day due to the feedback. Due to this course, I have changed my future plans and will finish my college degree in education. I have to say that I absolutely recommend this course for anyone who is or wants to be an excellent English teacher. It is an amazing way to teach, without a doubt!Come, and enjoy TEFL in this amazing country: COSTA RICA
